The Kitchen Table Devotions

Day 24

“Righteousness”

This was to demonstrate His righteousness, because in the forbearance of God He passed over the sins previously committed; 26 for the demonstration, I say, of His righteousness at the present time, so that He would be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus.

Romans 3:25-26

Righteousness reveals righteousness and love leads to love and we all reap what we sow.  Every one of us wants to be “right”.  If we want to be “right” then we must sow what is “right”.  The Bible says that righteousness comes by faith.  To be “right” we must believe the only One who can make us “right”.  So, it’s not what I think, it’s what He knows.  It’s not what they say, but what He says.  It’s not what I’ve done but what He did.  Jesus is the justifier of all who just put their faith in Him.  They just let His word, His work, and His will totally influence their wants, their walk, and their words.  It’s amazing!  Thank you Jesus for making me “right”.

Day 23

“Righteousness”

But now apart from the Law the righteousness of God has been manifested, being witnessed by the Law and the Prophets, 22 even the righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ for all those who believe; for there is no distinction; 23 for all  have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, 24 being justified as a gift by His grace through the redemption which is in Christ Jesus; 25 whom God displayed publicly as a propitiation  in His blood through faith

Romans 3:21-25

Always keep righteousness in front of religion and always keep love in front of the law.  The Bible says, “But now apart from the law the righteousness of God has been manifested…”  If being right with God comes apart from the law then being right with God is found in the love of God.  So, it’s not about getting our lives right to find the love of God, it’s about finding the love of God that gets our lives right with Him.  This life begins through faith in God’s love and it’s lived that way too.

Day 22

But now apart from the Law the righteousness of God has been manifested, being witnessed by the Law and the Prophets, 22 even the righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ for all those who believe; for there is no distinction; 23 for all  have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,                   Romans 3:21-23

The Glory of God is the Love of God that makes us right before God.  Being right isn’t found in obeying the law, by in living in the love of God.  Holiness is living in and living out the love of God in our lives personally.  God makes us “right” by faith in His love and what His love did for us and then we become religious about that love.  Always keep righteousness in front of religion.  We are righteous because of faith, and we are religious because of love.  God makes us right by faith in the love of Jesus.  The law reveals what is wrong with our lives and right with God’s life.  But it’s God’s love that makes both right.
