Matthew 18

Day 4

Whoever then humbles himself as this child, he is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. 5 And whoever receives one such child in My name receives Me;

Matthew 18:4-5

Don’t doubt, depend!  A child depends on his father and mother to supply what is needed.  Their mind is developing, it’s not already determined.  It’s a great place and time to learn about what love is and does.  It’s in that place and time of dependence that we receive from God as we look to Him rather than ourselves for what we need.  We receive Him and we receive all that He has for us.  There’s no muscle here, only meekness from a heart that depends on the Father.  It’s  from this place and time that we learn to live loved.

Matthew 18

Day 3

Whoever then humbles himself as this child, he is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven                   Matthew 18:4

Humility isn’t a work of heaven but of the heart.  It’s something that happens within each of us when we’re willing to drop what’s in our hands to have what’s in His hands.  Our thinking won’t work with His thinking.  His thoughts are higher than our thoughts.  Isaiah said, “For My thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways My ways,” declares the LORD.  For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways and My thoughts than your thoughts. “ (Isaiah 55:8-9)  Only the humble of heart will see the honors of heaven.

Matthew 18

Day 2

And He called a child to Himself and set him before them, 3 and said, “Truly I say to you, unless you are converted and become like children, you will not enter the kingdom of heaven. Matthew 18:2-3

You’re a child of the Most High!  Don’t let that understanding slip out of your heart.  And this life isn’t about being in charge, it’s about being His child.  That changes everything.  Jesus said that unless we are converted and become like a child, we cannot enter the kingdom of heaven.  A child must be taught, let Jesus take you and teach you today.

Matthew 18

Day 1

At that time the disciples came to Jesus and said, “Who then is greatest in the kingdom of heaven?” Matthew 18:1

We have this awesome privilege of walking into the presence of Jesus.  His love leaves the door open for us.  Come in with the right questions.  The best way to do that is to come with empty hands understanding that His plans and passion for us is good.  Empty hands are a sign of wonder; full hands are a sign of worry.  It’s not about how great we will be but how great He is.  It’s not about being in charge, it’s about being a child, His child.
