The Kitchen Table Devotional

Philippians 2 Day 2

Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit, but with humility of mind regard one another as more important than yourselves; do not merely look out for your own personal interests, but also for the interests of others

Philippians 2:3-4

A greater attitude flies from a greater altitude.  When our lives become about more than our lives, life gets exciting.  When this life becomes about living loved by God and living to love like God, our attitudes change for the good, for God.  Living in the love of God lets us live free from the fears of man which make us selfish, and self-centered.  God has this!  Live in His love, by His love, and for His love,

and let Him lift you above the fog, fences, and frustrations that rule a bad attitude.

Philippians 2 Day 1

Have this attitude in yourselves which was also in Christ Jesus,

Philippians 2:5

Nothing can make a day better than a great attitude and nothing can make a day worse than a lousy attitude.  Make Jesus your loudest voice and He’ll give you the largest vision to live for life with Him.  Our attitude determines our altitude, and we can soar with the eagles or slide on our stomachs.  We get to choose.

Philippians 1 Day 15

according to my earnest expectation and hope, that I will not be put to shame in anything, but that with all boldness, Christ will even now, as always, be exalted in my body, whether by life or by death.                         Philippians 1:20

Not enough can be said about the importance of our imagination.  Paul writes about his earnest expectation, and hope.  There’s an earnest expectation and hope that flows from a mind and heart transformed by God’s love.  Rejoicing happens as we begin to realize His great love and recognize what that love is, has, and will do in our lives.  Live with expectation, it’s exciting!

Philippians 1 Day 14

Yes, and I will rejoice, for I know that this will turn out for my deliverance through your prayers and the provision of the Spirit of Jesus Christ,               Philippians 1:18-19

Rejoicing is found is what we are realizing.  The believer realizes that Jesus is true, the Holy Spirit and His work is real, and that God is faithful to keep and prosper us in His way.  Those who realize these things rejoice in them always.  Paul says, “Yes and I will rejoice for I know…”  We will only rejoice in what we realize or know to be good and right and true.  Anything else is fake or temporary.

Philippians 1 Day 13

What then? Only that in every way, whether in pretense or in truth, Christ is proclaimed; and in this I rejoice

Philippians 1:18

All that matters is Jesus!  Make Him all that matters today and rejoicing will fill your heart.

Philippians 1 Day 12

knowing that I am appointed for the defense of the gospel

Philippians 1:16

It’s easy to be arrested by men when we don’t know our appointment by God.  Paul is saying that he knows that he has been appointed by God to defend the gospel, to live the gospel, and to speak and share the gospel.  When we know our reason for living, no one can take that life from us.  This world afflicts and arrests in its unhappiness, but God appoints and affirms in His joy over us.  Be bold & beautiful for God today.  He appointed you for this day.

Philippians 1 Day 11

Now I want you to know, brethren, that my circumstances have turned out for the greater progress of the gospel, 13 so that my  imprisonment in the cause of Christ has become well known throughout the whole praetorian guard and to everyone else,

Philippians 1:12-13

When the Gospel is you’re your message, only God can put you in jail, and from there He will tell His great story.  Do not fear men & live for the Master.  He will fulfill His word in you, to you, and through you.  The jails of men are temporary but the justice of God is eternal.  Trust Him today.
