But you have today rejected your God, who delivers you from all your calamities and your distresses; yet you have said, ‘No, but set a king over us!’ Now, therefore, present yourselves before the LORD by your tribes and by your clans.

The people won’t see it, and Saul won’t get it. Without repentance, we can’t see God’s revelation. Israel couldn’t see, Saul couldn’t hear, and neither could receive the revelation of God. Unwilling to change the way they thought, Israel and Saul couldn’t receive what God would want. It happens!
