The Kitchen Table Devotional

David Day 24

Now the Spirit of the LORD departed from Saul, and an evil spirit from the LORD terrorized him. Saul’s servants then said to him, “Behold now, an evil spirit from God is terrorizing you.

1 Samuel 16:14

Before we say anything else let’s begin with this:  We are spiritual beings having a human experience & existence.  If we’re not living under the influence of the Spirit of God, we’re living influenced by the spirits of hell.  You’ll know, they still our peace.  There is peace in the presence of the Spirit of God.

The Kitchen Table Devotional

David Day 23

Then Samuel took the horn of oil and anointed him in the midst of his brothers; and the Spirit of the LORD came mightily upon David from that day forward. And Samuel arose and went to Ramah.

1 Samuel 16:13

When it comes to the Holy Spirit, it’s not Him who holds back, it’s We’re the ones who hold back what God wants to do in us and through us. David was young, inexperienced, and even King Saul and his own brothers will find David, incomplete. But God doesn’t hold back or hold off if we’re willing to believe and receive what He wants to do in our lives. Be available, he will make you able.

David Day 20

But the LORD said to Samuel, “Do not look at his appearance or at the height of his stature, because I have rejected him; for God sees not as man sees, for man looks at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart.”

1 Samuel 16:7

It should never surprise us that God deals in the truth with the truth.  It’s easy to be impressed with what we see and hear but neglect what we know or don’t know.  In fact, it’s easy to become impressed with our own impression and forget its about the truth in our heart.  Get used to this right now, God works and walks in the truth, and we should also.

The Kitchen Table Devotional

David Day 19

You shall invite Jesse to the sacrifice, and I will show you what you shall do; and you shall anoint for Me the one whom I designate to you.”

1 Samuel 16:3

Don’t stop doing what brought you into the anointing in the first place.  Don’t let the enemy change your schedule, your routine with Jesus.  In fact, invite others to join you.  Don’t sit with people who worry when you can stand with those who worship and watch God do His thing.

The Kitchen Table Devotional

Dave Day 18

But Samuel said, “How can I go? When Saul hears of it, he will kill me.” And the LORD said, “Take a heifer with you and say, ‘I have come to sacrifice to the LORD.’

1 Samuel 16:2

Here we have an example of someone who possesses an anointing but is not possessed by the anointing.  Saul will us his authority to stop anything outside his will, but the person possessed by the anointing won’t stop what God is doing.  How?  They worship rather than worry.  Just keep doing what you’re doing and keep on worshipping the Lord.  He’s the One who opens doors and shuts windows.  Just do your thing as a child of God and worship rather than worry.  God’s got this!

The Kitchen Table Devotional

David Day 17

Fill your horn with oil and go; I will send you to Jesse the Bethlehemite, for I have selected a king for Myself among his sons.

1 Samuel 16:1

Pay attention to what God was doing and you’ll better understand what God is doing.  We’re beginning to witness what it is like for the Anointing to possess us rather than us just possess the anointing. When God’s anointing possesses us it’s about hearing what He wants and what He is doing.  God tells Samuel, “I have rejected… I will send…I have selected.”  When the Anointing of God possesses us, we possess Him and those who are possessed are those who surrender to Him to be possessed.

The Kitchen Table Devotional

David Day 16

Now the LORD said to Samuel, “How long will you grieve over Saul, since I have rejected him from being king over Israel? Fill your horn with oil and go; I will send you to Jesse the Bethlehemite, for I have selected a king for Myself among his sons.”

1 Samuel 16:1

It’s an amazing thing to know and find out what God has chosen us for in this life. Sometimes that all seems almost impossible, but nothing is impossible for God.  He knows who you, where you are, and what you but He also knows why you are.  He anoints you for what He’s called you and even though the calling might change as we go through life, the anointing will be there for whatever He wants for us.  Believe that and be ready to walk with Him down life’s road.

The Kitchen Table Devotional

David Day 15

You must not turn aside, for then you would go after futile things which can not profit or deliver, because they are futile. For the LORD will not abandon His people on account of His great name, because the LORD has been pleased to make you a people for Himself

1 Sam 12:21-22

Want wisdom!  Don’t let what’s wrong, worthless, or wasteful take you off track.  Futile is anything that does not bring us into the full heart of God.  People will disagree and disappear, but God will not ever do such a thing.  Don’t settle for the realm of the obvious, live in the revelation of marvelous.

The Kitchen Table Devotional

David Day 14

Samuel said to the people, “Do not fear. You have committed all this evil, yet do not turn aside from following the LORD, but serve the LORD with all your heart

1 Samuel 12:20

It’s not who you see but who you hear that matters.  Who do you listen to?  Know who you trust for truth and that will determine who you trust for love.  No one loves you more than your Father in heaven.  Learn to trust His voice from His heart. Kings know this truth.

The Kitchen Table Devotional

David Day 13

Even now, take your stand and see this great thing which the LORD will do before your eyes.

1 Samuel 12:16

Samuel, the prophet and judge of God is setting the table for the king and kings to follow.  Dare to trust God.  Saul won’t get it but David will.  Nothing man can do is comparable with what God can and does do.  Dare to trust Him!  It will make you a king.
