The Kitchen Table Devotional

Galatians 1 Day 1

Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ, 4 who gave Himself for our sins so that He might rescue us from this present evil age, according to the will of our God and Father, 5 to whom be the glory forevermore. Amen.

Galatians 1:3-5

God raised Jesus from the dead to save us and Jesus saved us so that we could be raised from the dead.  We are saved from the slavery of our foe and raised from the slavery of our flesh.  No one and no thing can do what God has done through Jesus.  Freedom is never free, don’t give it away or give it up.

The Kitchen Table Devotional

2 Corinthians 13 Day 2

For indeed He was crucified because of weakness, yet He lives because of the power of God. For we also are weak in Him, yet we will live with Him because of the power of God directed toward you.

2 Corinthians 13:4

Always carry around the cross in your heart and in your mind.  It’s here that all of life is reset by the redemption of Jesus on that cross.  Always start here!

The Kitchen Table Devotional

2 Corinthians 13 Day 1

I have previously said when present the second time, and though now absent I say in advance to those who have sinned in the past and to all the rest as well, that if I come again I will not spare anyone, 3 since you are seeking for proof of the Christ who speaks in me, and who is not weak toward you, but mighty in you.

2 Corinthians 13:2-3

Don’t doubt the power of God, surrender to Him.  The God who speaks to us will work mightily in us, not just toward us.  We have a choice.  Do we want God working around you or in you?  Believe me, you want God working in you, not just around you.  It feels good when God is working around us, but it is so good when God is working in us.

The Kitchen Table Devotional

2 Corinthians 12 Day 5

Here for this third time, I am ready to come to you, and I will not be a burden to you; for I do not seek what is yours, but you; for children are not responsible to save up for their parents, but parents for their children. 15 I will most gladly spend and be expended for your souls. If I love you more, am I to be loved less?

2 Corinthians 12:14-15

Here is the real motivation of real ministry.  Here is the real key to successful mission and ministry that only the Holy Spirit can develop in our hearts when we let Him love us and love through us.

The Kitchen Table Devotional

2 Corinthians 11 Day 4

No wonder, for even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light.

2 Corinthians 11:14

The spirit we live with is attached to the word we live by.  Be careful what you listen to or allow time for in your head.  People were trying to discredit Paul, expressing, I’m sure, that they just wanted what was best for everyone involved.  They wanted to discredit and disqualify Paul for their own means.  The devil always dresses up deception.  It’s never total evil, it’s always perverted good.   Don’t let someone else make your decision about others for you, seek God, and know your true friends.

The Kitchen Table Devotional

2 Corinthians 2 Day 3

For if one comes and preaches another Jesus whom we have not preached, or you receive a different spirit which you have not received, or a different gospel which you have not accepted, you bear this beautifully.

2 Corinthians 11:4

Deception lives in words and so do demons.  The spirit we live with will be directly tied to the words we listen to.  Where there is agreement, there is authority, good or evil.  Listen to the words!  This life is lived by revelation, not by rules.

The Kitchen Table Devotional

2 Corinthians 11 Day 2

But I am afraid that, as the serpent deceived Eve by his craftiness, your minds will be led astray from the simplicity and purity of devotion to Christ.

2 Corinthians 11:3

Remember this, love is simple.  There’s not a lot of questions, just a passion for God.  It’s deception that becomes difficult, entangling us in the drama of the “what ifs”. Keep it simple, love God.

The Kitchen Table Devotional

2 Corinthians 11 Day 1

I wish that you would bear with me in a little foolishness; but indeed you are bearing with me. 2 For I am jealous for you with a godly jealousy; for I betrothed you to one husband, so that to Christ I might present you as a pure virgin.

2 Corinthians 11:1-2

Here’s a little key to a big life in Jesus, find someone who has a godly jealousy for you to know Christ.  This person might not be visible immediately, but you’ll know them.  They will want you to know the Jesus they know, and to know the life of Jesus they know.  It won’t be about “who” they are but about “who” He is and what He has done in their life.  Find that person and stay close.  They may not be the best speaker, or storyteller, or wear the best suits, but God loves you through them.  Stay close and appreciative of that person God has put in your life.

2 Corinthians 10 Day 5

But HE WHO BOASTS IS TO BOAST IN THE LORD. 18 For it is not he who commends himself that is approved, but he whom the Lord commends

2 Corinthians 10:17-18

We get into trouble when we talk about ourselves and our friends more than our God.  Did you ever notice that it’s easier to talk about the bad things we’ve done than the good things we;ve done. It seems like people accept or tolerate the bad and ugly more than they do the good and beautiful.  But when we talk about Jesus, who He is, and what He’s done, it changes the surroundings for good.

The Kitchen Table Devotional

2 Corinthians 10 Day 4

For we are not bold to class or compare ourselves with some of those who commend themselves; but when they measure themselves by themselves and compare themselves with themselves, they are without understanding.

2 Corinthians 10:12

When our metrics become human, our mind becomes earthly.  When our understanding becomes horizontal, our spirit can’t live in what’s vertical.  Seeking to be wise in the eyes of this world we lose our freedom to the eyes of the underworld.
