Matthew 13
Day 17
The slaves of the landowner came and said to him, ‘Sir, did you not sow good seed in your field? How then does it have tares?’ 28 And he said to them, ‘An enemy has done this!’ The slaves *said to him, ‘Do you want us, then, to go and gather them up?’ 29 But he *said, ‘No; for while you are gathering up the tares, you may uproot the wheat with them. Matthew 13:27-29
God knows the motivation of our mouths. He can see it. There’s no fooling God who sees all things (Psalm 33:13-15). It’s not just what we say but why we say it that matters. Our speech reveals the seed that is growing in our hearts. It seems so small that no one could really see it, but God can and does. This bad seed will give us the looks but not the life. Only the seed of God’s word can make us God’s work in this world. There is truth and there are tares, what is false. A false word will give us a false life, but a true word will give us true life in Christ and God knows why we hold to either. Love the truth now so that you don’t hate the truth later.
