From the Kitchen Table
Victorious Living Day 13
Are we beginning to commend ourselves again? Or do we need, as some do, letters of recommendation to you, or from you? You yourselves are our letter of recommendation, written on our hearts, to be known and read by all. And you show that you are a letter from Christ delivered by us, written not with ink but with the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone but on tablets of human hearts. Such is the confidence that we have through Christ toward God. Not that we are sufficient in ourselves to claim anything as coming from us, but our sufficiency is from God, who has made us sufficient to be ministers of a new covenant, not of the letter but of the Spirit. For the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life. 2 Corinthians 3:1-6
The Holy Spirit tells us that we are a living letter from God, read out loud, every day, to those around us and we are merely obedient followers of some law. Who we are shows up more than what we do. Being precedes doing. The victorious Christian life flows from who we are more than by what we do. This life is lived from a real and living relationship with the Holy Spirit, not a relationship we have with the law. It’s not cold and hard; it’s a life that is warm & tender And it shows because it’s a life that is motivated by the voice, values and vision of the Holy Spirit, not regarded, restricted and redeemed by the law. This letter hasn’t been written, it’s being written as we breath in this real and rewarding relationship with the Holy Spirit. It’s a life lived with the Holy Spirit by the power of the Holy Spirit as we learn to listen and live in agreement with Him, not the tablets of stone.
