From the Kitchen Table

Victorious Living Day 18

Therefore, as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in him, rooted and built up in him and established in the faith, just as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving.  See to it that no one takes you captive by philosophy and empty deceit, according to human tradition, according to the elemental spirits of the world, and not according to Christ. For in him the whole fullness of deity dwells bodily, and you have been filled in him, who is the head of all rule and authority. In him also you were circumcised with a circumcision made without hands, by putting off the body of the flesh, by the circumcision of Christ, having been buried with him in baptism, in which you were also raised with him through faith in the powerful working of God, who raised him from the dead. And you, who were dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made alive together with him, having forgiven us all our trespasses, by canceling the record of debt that stood against us with its legal demands. This he set aside, nailing it to the cross. He disarmed the rulers and authorities and put them to open shame, by triumphing over them in him.  Colossians 2:6-15

Don’t go halfway!  Jesus said it was dangerous.  Half-baked ideas and initiatives get no respect and neither does half-hearted Christianity.  Dig your foundation deep.  Come to conclusions about what you believe, and you’ll have convictions for how you behave.  Captured Christians can’t.  Remember that!  We can and will become captives of the carnal world if we don’t come to some conclusions about the Christian life.  Dig deep, we must come to some conclusions about what we believe or we will live half-baked, half-lite, half-way lives that just go to church, they don’t be the church that looks like Jesus.  Find out what it means when He made us fully alive, forgave all our sins, cancelled all our debt, released us from every one of those legal demands when He went all the way to and through the cross.  And know what it means to be filled up with His Spirit.  Half-baked Christianity won’t get us half-way down the road and will leave us only half-way satisfied with this life.  The half-way way life never gets all the way down the road leaving us only with nice thoughts, not real treasures.  It all sounds like the great vacation we always wanted to take but never did.
