The Kitchen Table Philippians Day 19
But whatever gain I had, I counted as loss for the sake of Christ
Philippians 3:7
Why do we hold on for the awards, amends and acceptance of man when we can live in the applause of Christ? There’s nothing wrong with doing a good job and it’s always nice to be accepted and when people make amends for wrongs, that’s nice too. But there’s nothing like the applause of Christ that we find in the sake of Christ. This isn’t something we just learn about, it’s something we live in, experience in Him and it is better than anything man can offer. In the applause of Christ we know and feel His affection, approval and affirmation. It’s a spiritual thing that far out-weighs the physical things. It’s just knowing that He is with us and for us, like a dad cheering us as we run the race. In the sake of Christ we see the smile of Christ to run to and the shoulders of Christ to fall into; He loves us and applauds our every step in Him.
