Mark Day 36
Read: Mark 12:28-44
Jesus answered, “The most important is, ‘Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. 30 And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’ 31 The second is this: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these.” Mark 12:29-31
We all have eyes to see and we use them to judge but how we judge will be determined by who and what we love. The Scribes loved places of honor and lived hating those who gave them those places. The Widow loved God and lived loving Him with all she had in this life. There’s judgment all over these two stories. We judge with our eyes from our hearts. God gave us eyes to see through, not to just see with. We see through our eyes from the convictions and commitments of our hearts. We see with our eyes when we let the world determine what we see and why. Who or what we love will determine who and what we see and we will judge the world we live in accordingly. It’s what fills our hearts that determine who and what we see with our eyes. If we want to fix our eyes, we must first fix our hearts. Out of the mouth the heart speaks and from the heart the eyes see. When our heart is right, our judgment will be too. Love God and see His awesome creations and power.
