The Kitchen Table Devotions

The Game of Life  Day 14

Why do you call me ‘Lord, Lord,’ and not do what I tell you? 47 Everyone who comes to me and hears my words and does them, I will show you what he is like: 48 he is like a man building a house, who dug deep and laid the foundation on the rock Luke 6:46-48

There’s a place in Proverbs that says, 1 My son, if you receive my words and treasure up my commandments with you, 2 making your ear attentive to wisdom and inclining your heart to understanding; 3 yes, if you call out for insight and raise your voice for  understanding, 4 if you seek it like silver and search for it as for hidden treasures, 5 then you will understand the fear of the LORD and find the knowledge of God. (Proverbs 2:1-5)

Jesus said that the wise man digs deep and builds on the rock, on what is true and sure.  Listen, this life is our responsibility and how we build our house, or our life is of our own volition.  Anyone who wants to build their life on the truth will have to dig deep.  They will draw close to God.  There’s a place in Hebrews 7 where God says, Consequently, he is able to save to the uttermost those who draw near to God through him, since he always lives to make intercession for them. (Hebrews 7:25)  Don’t just believe, know what and why we believe and then we will truly believe and know God.  We must choose to draw near to God.  The Bible says Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. 8 Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded James 4:7-8  Dig deep and know God!
