The Kitchen Table Devotions
“The Prodigal”
Day 13
So he went and hired himself out to one of the citizens of that country, who sent him into his fields to feed pigs.
Luke 15:15
Sometimes the best thing love can do is nothing. Until we’re looking for it we probably won’t like it. And one of the most difficult things about sin is not where we end up laboring but rather where we find ourselves looking. Sin will keep our eyes on the horizon rather than in the heavens where the Father lives and loves. The younger son looks to a citizen of that country. It’s logical, he’s broke and needs a buck. Disbelief and disobedience will leave us with obligation rather than opportunity. Jesus said that whoever practices sin is a slave to sin (Jn 8:34) It’s had to observe what is above when we’re obligated to what’s below but you can!
