Matthew 18
Day 27
But that slave went out and found one of his fellow slaves who owed him a hundred denarii; and he seized him and began to choke him, saying, ‘Pay back what you owe.’
Matthew 18:28
One of the most telling things about the Christian is found in his or her ability to forgive. If we can’t forgive, then most likely, we haven’t received forgiveness. Forgiveness must be received to be both realized and released in our lives. And if we haven’t received it, we won’t release it. The slave heard it, knew it was true, but didn’t get it or receive it. How do we know? If he had received it he would have lived like a forgiven man, not an unforgiven man. But he goes on living like he still needs to pay for his past debt. So, he goes out and demands others pay up or pay the price like he knows he should have had to pay his debt. He can’t release forgiveness because he hasn’t received his own forgiveness in his heart. It’s important because forgiveness is the key to every other benefit in the kingdom of God.
