From the Kitchen Table
Day 22
Give
thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his
love endures forever. Let the redeemed
of the Lord tell their story—those he redeemed from the hand of the foe, those
he gathered from the lands, from east and west, from north and south. Some wandered in desert wastelands, finding
no way to a city where they could settle.
They were hungry and thirsty, and their lives ebbed away. Then they cried out to the Lord in their
trouble,
and he delivered them from their distress.
He led them by a straight way to a city where they could settle. Let them give thanks to the Lord for his
unfailing love and his wonderful deeds for mankind, for he satisfies the
thirsty and fills the hungry with good things. Psalm 107.1-9
Your life is on God’s mind and if you let Him, He will satisfy your hunger and thirst with good things. The table of the Lord is on the other side of thanksgiving. God will not force His will and gifts on us, but He will set a table and save a seat for us. It’s impossible to know God’s will for our lives if we don’t know or believe that He loves us. He loves us and He keeps us in His heart and mind to bless us. Two critical exercises that we must fill our lives: Thoughtfulness and Thankfulness. If we want to live in the blessings of God, then we must be thoughtful of Him and thankful for Him. The psalmist writes, “Let the redeemed of the Lord tell their story…” Want to be thoughtful and thankful? Keep talking about what God has and is doing for us. He loves us and we are constantly on His mind and in His heart. What a great way to live.
