The Kitchen Table 1 John Day 9
Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. 16 For all that is in the world—the desires of the flesh and the desires of the eyes and pride of life—is not from the Father but is from the world. 1 John 2:15-16
Our lives reflect our love. There’s a good possibility that we are torn between what we love and what we loath but that only reflects our indecision. Jesus said we could not serve two masters and we can’t. We will love the one and hate the other. If anyone loves the world (man’s world) the love of the Father is not in Him. The secret to living life abundantly is to fall in love with what is good and right and true. Only God is all those things. Loving anything or anyone other than what is good and right and true only leads to fear, frustration and foolishness. The love of this world sets us up for the life of the antichrist. Living in the love of this world only leads to deception, darkness and defeat. Real love brings favor; false makes fools. We must be honest about our desires of the flesh and the eyes, as well as our pride, or we will be disappointed with our choices in life. Love creates life and we choose what we love.
