The Game of Life Day 4
And he said to them, “Take care, and be on your guard against all covetousness, for one’s life does not consist in the abundance of his possessions.” Luke 12:15
Do you know what makes a dad a good dad? It is the values for life that he shares and sows into the lives of his family. We need values, not valuables, to live this life successfully.
One day Jesus had just shared about the value of acknowledging Jesus before men and what that does in the seen and unseen world. No more does He say this, and a man shouts out for Jesus to make his brother share their inheritance. Jesus’ response is epic. Who made me your judge? But then He goes on to share the value of valuing your heart. Do not let your heart be motivated by fear, jealousy, or greed. Valuables do not make life work, values do.
One of the greatest ways to fall into the deception of the devil, (and remember, deception is his only superpower) is to let him convince you that you are dissatisfied. Dissatisfaction leads to disbelief and disobedience. We become dissatisfied when we lose our value for the people and things that are valuable. It is values, not valuables, that make life successful, livable, enjoyable. Value your relationship with God; He values his relationship with you and God will give you the valuables of life and the values to enjoy them.
