The Game of Life Day 3
“I tell you, my friends, do not fear those who kill the body, and after that have nothing more that they can do. 5 But I will warn you whom to fear: fear him who, after he has killed, has authority to cast into hell. Yes, I tell you, fear him! 6 Are not five sparrows sold for two pennies? And not one of them is forgotten before God. 7 Why, even the hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not; you are of more value than many sparrows. Luke 12:4-7
Our values in life begin to develop through “who” we value more than “what” we value. Our value for rules begins with our value of relationships. It makes me think of God giving the Hebrews the 10 commandments after He delivered them from Egypt. And here is the thing, where there is no value for relationship there will be fear in our relationships. Where there is no value for “who” there will be fear of “what”. We will begin to fear the wrong things and wrong people. It is a terrible place to find ourselves fearing the rejection of people and pleasures we want to know.
Jesus goes on to say in verse 8, “And I tell you that whoever acknowledges Me before men, the Son of Man will also acknowledge before the angels of God.” He values us more! Living in that knowledge with that understanding because of that value will develop every other value we have in life. And we will overcome all fear because we overcome fear with love, not leverage. Values begin with “who” we value, not “what” we value. If we value God and His love for us, He will give us the values to know and live in that great love.
