The Game of Life Day 7
But woe to you who are rich, for you have received your consolation.
25 “Woe to you who are full now, for you shall be hungry. “Woe to you who laugh now, for you shall mourn and weep. 26 “Woe to you, when all people speak well of you, for so their fathers did to the false prophets. Luke 6:24-26
There is a phrase out there that I have seen people purchase for their wall, write on their cards, share with their friends, and possess for their lives. The phrase is Live, Love, and Laugh. And while the phrase itself is not too upsetting it challenges what we believe in. We want to rich, full, and happy and Jesus says, be careful where that thinking takes you. Can we see the problem here?
Jesus opens our eyes to see life and how to live it when He begins to talk to us about blessings and burdens (woes). Life and living begins when we begin to “see” the blessing of seeing God, seeing God as good and seeing that God loves us. We need to see the source of life, not just the sauce for life. We do not pursue the fruit of God but rather the God of the fruit. But to do that our eyes, our vision, need to be clear. The word of God becomes our window on the world and this life. Looking for wealth, privilege, and pleasure can leave us pursuing a mirage. It is not what we value but who we value that forms our vision in life and for life. Value God and His word and you will see God and His perfect and goodwill.
